I stood in my room in front of the huge mirror
staring at my reflection. The day had finally
reached. The day that I’ve hoped to someday
be the best for me has actually turned out to
be my worst nightmare. I looked pretty alright
especially because everyone including mum
kept telling me that and through my long veil, I
could see tears at the corner of her eyes which
makes me want to cry as well.
I was dressed in a long body fitted wedding
dress. The lower part was almost like a fish
tail and the veil was long especially the back
side more than the front and it had a little
embroidery at its tips. My hair was packed into
a long pony tail and the jewellery I had on was
only a beautiful golden stud earrings. The
bunch of flowers in my hands were white.
” So…ready sis?” Jo asked me as she came
and stood beside me. As she wanted, she was
my maid of honour and Mia and two of my
friends were my bridesmaids. She was smiling
but at the same time seemed teary. I took in a
deep breath as I felt a sudden cold of fear
wash over as I turned to her. I nodded to her.
” Caden. ” dad called me from behind and I
turned to him. He just stared at me with….with
sympathy in his eyes. He looked sad and I
just wanted to hug him and tell him that
everything would be alright. Marrying Blayze
Norman isn’t the end of the world for me. I
know that someday I’ll rise above this
situation.
” Everyone…could…could you please wait for
me downstairs…please give us a minute. ” I
told all of them in my room and within two
minutes, the room was left with only dad and
I. I smiled to him even if my eyes were filled
with tears ready to trickle down. Dad smiled
back as he came closer and took hold of my
hands in his.
” I’m…I’m really sorry for doing this to you
Caden…I…I don’t want anything to happen to
you…I’ve thought about it and it’s okay if you
do not want to marry him. I’ll find another way
to solve the company’s problem…”
” It’s okay dad…The Blayze Norman I know
will make your life a living hell if we
embarrass him and don’t show up today and
dad…that’s what I cannot bear…I can’t bear
seeing you suffer when I know there is
something I can do…don’t worry about me. I’m
a fighter and that’s why you named me Caden,
little fighter.” I told him as I tried my best to
give him an assuring smile. He smiled back
then drew me in for a warm hug.
” It’s time to go sis!” Jo exclaimed as she
suddenly opened the door and dad and I finally
stepped out of our little drama.
” Is this a group hug…can I join? ” Joanna
asked as she pouted her lips to a corner and
made a baby pleading voice.
” Of course. ” I told her and she smiled happily
as she came closer and we came closer for a
hug and then there was an additional person.
We looked up and saw mum and we had one
last group hug before going downstairs.
” No way Caden…he sent a limo!” Mia
exclaimed happily as we stood outside the
house and stared at the limousine that just
drove into the compound and parked in front
of us.
” Show off!” I mumbled to myself regarding
Blayze. He never forgets to spend his money
and show that he’s well off which probably
makes him think he can buy people off.
I dared him once to try and close down my
small company and even after the talk in the
car and I went home. The next day I came to
the building and it was locked down. I went to
his office and he confirmed that he really did
lock it down. Until I start doing as he says, he
won’t open it back.

I’m I really getting married today? I’m I really
the one walking down the aisle? Is everyone
really staring at me? My heart was beating
faster as I approached Blayze even while dad
was standing beside me. As usual, he was
looking handsome in a royal blue suit, a white
shirt and a black tie with black shoes. The
church was filled with prominent men and
women. One wouldn’t have been able to guess
that all this arrangement was made in three
days. I could see my mum, sister and even
friends smiling at me. Everyone must think that
I’m the most luckiest woman in the world but
that’s not so…in fact, I’m the most unluckiest
woman in the world to be getting married to
such a mean jerk.
As soon as we reached the altar, dad and I
hugged for one last time as father and single
daughter before he sadly handed my hand to
Blayze. I could feel the tears gather my eyes
as I watched dad leave my side and went and
stood beside mum. Mum looked equally sad
as him. This wasn’t what I pictured for my
wedding day. I had pictured my parents having
the broadest smile in the whole world that at
the end of the day, their cheeks would hurt. It
hurt me to see the opposite of my dreams.
Blayze on the other hand still had on the same
look. How does a person manage to keep the
same expression every single day? Come what
may…this is my wedding day and I have to at
least smile even if I really don’t want to.
We stood in front of the priest and as he
talked before saying the sermon, my mind
wandered away. I kept on thinking what my life
would be like after I do say ‘I do’. Will I really
later become happy or will I forever remain
unhappy? Will I eventually get over everything
or would…Blayze someday, miraculously win
my heart? Are we ever going to live like
husband and wife…nahhh! I doubt it. I’ll just
try my best and play my part in all this. If I
really can’t handle everything and Blayze
doesn’t change…I might as well get a
divorce…what is wrong with me? I’ve not even
yet said I do and I’m already thinking and
planning about divorce but seriously who
wouldn’t…when you’re marrying the devil
himself that you might as well become a
monster as well.
